I bought a NanoPi M6 from friendlyelec without any OS on it. I tried using the official flashing tool from friendlyelec and flashed a ubuntu image onto the emmc card, but its kernel is 6.1.99 and I wanted a more recent kernel like 6.11 so I looked into here and downloaded below file:
ubuntu-24.10-preinstalled-desktop-arm64-nanopi-r6s.img.xz (I did unzip it before using it)
However, it seems I can't find a way to install it using the 3 methods provided by friendlyelec wiki, namely:
flash to SD card
using eflasher and replace the target img in .conf file
using USB and RKDevTool.exe v3.19
I found OS file from friendlyelec are usually containing multiple small .img files, which looks like this
How can I adjust the ubuntu image ubuntu-24.10-preinstalled-desktop-arm64-nanopi-r6s.img.xz into the small image format so that I can flash it?
Or is the rootfs.img file supposed to be replaced by ubuntu-24.10-preinstalled-desktop-arm64-nanopi-r6s.img ?
In addition, I also tried flashing with the "Update Firmware" tab in the RKDevTool software but it shows error not recognizing the provided img file (ubuntu-24.10-preinstalled-desktop-arm64-nanopi-r6s.img) or xz file (ubuntu-24.10-preinstalled-desktop-arm64-nanopi-r6s.img.xz).
I'm a total newbie. Appreciate if there is any help on this.
